Information we handle

Depending on which parts of Greatest Game you use, this can include:

• A display name you choose, along with game identifiers such as player, room, invitation, and session identifiers.
• Game and session data needed to run multiplayer games, including game state, participation, connection status, reconnect activity, and game outcomes.
• Operational analytics such as game start and end times, human and bot counts, active game counts, reconnects, and error or rejection counters.
• IP address and ordinary network-request information used for security, rate limiting, troubleshooting, and server logs.
• Rules questions you submit to Ask the Judge and the technical information needed to process the request.
• Your email address and anything you choose to send if you contact support.
• Your name and email address if you choose to join the physical-edition interest list, along with the time your signup was recorded.

Session storage and cookies

The online game uses a session token so you can stay connected or reconnect to a game. In a browser, the game stores that token in session storage. The game API may also issue a secure, HttpOnly session cookie. These are used for game sessions, not advertising.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

• provide multiplayer games, matchmaking, reconnects, and other game functions;
• protect the service from abuse and enforce technical limits;
• diagnose errors, improve reliability, and understand aggregate game usage;
• answer Greatest Game rules questions through Ask the Judge;
• respond to support and privacy requests; and
• notify people who joined the physical-edition interest list about a future Kickstarter or product availability.

Ask the Judge and AI

Ask the Judge uses Cloudflare Workers AI. When you submit a rules question, the question and relevant Greatest Game rule excerpts are sent for AI processing so the Judge can generate a response. Do not include personal or sensitive information in a Judge question.

Service providers and sharing

Greatest Game relies on infrastructure and service providers for hosting, networking, security, AI processing, email delivery, and app distribution. Those providers may process information as needed to provide their services.

We do not currently sell personal information or use Greatest Game data for targeted advertising. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to protect the service, comply with law, or respond to a valid legal request.

Retention

Retention periods vary by data type and operational need. Game/session records, aggregate analytics, security logs, and support messages may be retained for troubleshooting, security, reliability, and service operation. Interest-list names and email addresses may be retained so we can send the updates requested when someone joins the list, unless that person asks to be removed or the list is no longer reasonably needed. Guest play remains available. Registered accounts use Google or Apple sign-in, a Greatest Game username, profile settings and account-linked gameplay records. Provider identifiers and encrypted Apple revocation credentials are used privately for authentication and account management.

Account deletion and backups

You can request deletion of your Greatest Game account. When the feature is enabled, account controls require fresh authentication with a linked provider and typed DELETE confirmation. Export your account data first if you want a copy. Your Google or Apple account itself is not deleted.

Deletion removes your profile, personal statistics, achievements, preferences, linked authentication information and account-linked telemetry. Account and game reconnect access is invalidated. Other players retain their earned results; only minimal shared game information needed for those results may remain. Such records are not automatically considered anonymous.

Provider outages can delay completion. Accepted requests disable account access and are retried. Legacy Apple credentials that cannot be recovered may require you to remove Greatest Game access in Apple settings. Google consent can also be removed in your Google account settings. Contact support if you cannot access any linked provider; we must verify ownership.

Encrypted backups can contain earlier copies until they expire under the applicable backup retention schedule. Restored data must be reconciled against a separate deletion journal before public access. Limited deletion receipts are retained to prevent restoration of deleted accounts for as long as affected recoverable backups exist. Security, support or legally required records may have separate, restricted retention periods. We do not promise a fixed backup expiry date that has not been verified for the relevant copies.

Your choices

You can use a nickname instead of your real name when playing. Avoid putting personal information in display names or Judge questions.

If you joined the physical-edition interest list and no longer want those updates, you can ask to be removed through the Support contact form.

For any privacy question or request, use the Support contact form. Include enough context for us to identify the relevant data, but never send a password, session token, or authentication code.

Security

We use technical safeguards intended to protect Greatest Game data, including encrypted connections, access controls, session-token hashing on the server, rate limiting, and restricted administrative access. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If Greatest Game changes how it handles information, this page may be updated to reflect the current service. The effective date above will be updated when the policy materially changes.
